The Powermatic PM1000 is the most affordable cabinet saw made by Powermatic. It is a popular machine due to its affordable price and quality. It is prewired at 115V, meaning it is an excellent machine for home shops.
It is not the most powerful (1.75HP), and lacks some of the additional features and upgrades of its larger brother, the Powermatic PM2000B (3 or 5HP). In contrast to the PM1000, the PM2000B can be extended with a router table, workbench, and sliding table attachment.
The PM1000 also shares many similarities with the Powermatic 64B, which has a contractor-style base, while the PM1000 has a fully closed cabinet saw base.
Its fence has HDPE sides, which are smoother and don’t require lubrication like metal fences. The riving knife can be replaced quickly without any tools, and the same goes for the blade guard. The machine also comes with a second, low-profile riving knife that can be used for through cuts like dados and grooves.
Good, affordable table saw. Misses some features of more expensive machines, but makes up for it with its great price.
