The Kity 2638 Jointer Planer is the larger version of the Kity 2636. It is branded as a Kity, but really is a Scheppach machine made in China.
It has good specifications and basic design, but the actual quality level is unclear due to it being made in China. Nowadays standards are improving, but older machines that were made in China can be hit and miss due to poorer quality control.
When the Kity brand disappeared, this machine was continued as the Scheppach Plana 4.0. Because of this, there are still some parts available in case you need to repair.
A mortising table was available as an extra option.
