The Record Power PT107 is a stationary planer thicknesser (jointer planer) with a maximum width capacity of 10 inches and a height capacity of 7 inches (hence the name 107). In practice, its capacity is slightly bigger with 265mm in planing width and 190mm in thicknessing height.
It is made in China based on a design used for several similar machines by other brands, such as Bernardo, Holzmann, and Charnwood.
Even though they have about the same capacity, the PT107 is quite different from the Record Power PT260. The PT107 is much heavier, and sturdier. It is not as easy to move around as the lightweight PT260, but it will be much more stable and comfortable to use.
Another advantage is that its tables fold upwards. This means that you can switch from planing to thicknessing much faster, and that you don’t risk losing the settings of your table (as you do on a machine where the tables are removed entirely).
It also features a large central column to support the thicknessing table, rather than four spindles, one for each corner. The single column can be stronger, but also a bit more difficult to adjust.
Replacement Blades: If you need new knives, you can purchase them through Record Power themselves, or through eBay UK (which costs 50% less), or from Xcalibur via Amazon.
Heavy, stationary planer thicknesser, excellent for serious hobbyists. Planing width is slightly limited.
