The Inca Major 341.018 (model 250 or 259 in North America) table saw is the big brother of the Inca Universal. It is relatively similar, but bigger in almost all ways. Most people prefer the Major, because its size is sufficient for most home users.

Just like its smaller sibling, there are moulding, mortising, sanding, and tenoning attachments available. Even a sliding table was available.

Dovetailed Mitre Slots

Take note that the miter gauge slots of the Universal and Major are not the same. Also, on both machines the table tilts rather than the saw blade. This makes angled cuts more dangerous.

The motor is suspended under the table and drives the arbor with a pulley. This means the motor can be easily replaced if needed.

Inca also made a larger table saw, the Inca Master, which included an integrated stand. Most of the replaceable parts (blades etc.) were interchangeable between the Master and the Major.

Replacement Blades: The Inca Major takes blades up to 250mm (about 10 inches), but has an arbor of 20 mm. It can be hard to find blades for this arbor size, so you’ll probably need to use a reducer ring. Axminster sells a very cheap one, and ships worldwide (but you may be able to find one in your local hardware store too).

You can browse some 10-inch blades with good reviews on Amazon US here. Europeans and Brits may find some 250mm blades on Amazon Germany, or Amazon UK.

Machine Atlas Verdict

Excellent and highly precise table saw. The tilting table is the only real downside.

Discussion

Ask questions or share your experiences with the Inca Major 341.018 with others

  1. Please let me know what diameter DADO stack is optimal for the Major (8″ vs 6″) and what is the maximum stack width the 20 mm arbor can take?

    Many thanks

    • Hi Pete, I’m not 100% sure if the Inca was built to take a dado stack. They actually came with a wobble saw that does the same job as a dado stack. Your best bet is to ask around on the Inca Woodworking Group.

      Hope that helps, Rob.

  2. I don’t think angled cuts are particularly dangerous on the Inca saws. It is the case that this kind of saw construction is no longer legal. And I believe this thinking has progressed to the point where bandsaws are now made with tilting saw, not table mechanisms in the EU. So I am not saying no bad thing can happen.

Both tilting arbor, and tilting table saws have one safe side to rip a bevel on. Tilting table saws have the additional issue that a too large or twisted piece of wood, could get away from you on a tilting table saw. Pieces that are too large, or too small are dangerous on any saw, and need special handling, in the form of jigs or outfeed tables or workarounds. But a clean piece of wood can be safely cut and is actually non-scary.

The Inca has the additional issue that the fence is not super heavy, and at steep angles it will carry the weight. If it gave way it would destabilize the ripped piece.

But this kind of thing is hiding in every saw, and the right piece of wood, handled properly is very “safe”. The problem is that nobody can really tell you what safe is, because it depends on a lot of factors including the kind of wood you are using, the cuts you need to make. So as always be careful establishing limits of safe practice.

All that said, I prefer not to touch settings if there is any other way to get a job done. Dust collects inside these machines and when you reset, you may not return exactly to square, so I prefer to only use it for square cuts.

  5. The second inca I got which was a full package with the sliding table. It came with a stack dado set. I think it was Inca branded. I have never used it, and can’t now find it to look up what size it is. I will look again, and report back if I find it.

  6. What are “workarouds”. Using a purpose built tool like a router table; hand tool options are good skill builders and usually pretty safe. Recently I have been substituting 3D printed parts for parts that don’t cut as easily from wood. Such parts often save a lot of wood.

  7. Inca Major 341 table alignment
My table is about 1- 2 mm out of square with the blade. I cannot figure out how to make this adjustment. Have not found any adjustment instructions. The only bolts I have located are the 3 on each side of the table that attach it to the tilt half wheels (part 57.04.0237). Loosening theses does not seem to allow for any adjustment. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
