The DeWalt DW50 is a classic jointer planer originally made in the 1980s. It is very similar to its successor, the DeWalt DW1150. The main difference seems to be that the DW1150 has a much better fence, which is the main weak spot of the DW50.
The body is made from heavy cast iron, which is much higher quality than most other machines, both new and vintage. Its construction is relatively simple, so most models you will find on the second-hand market are still very useable today, simply because there isn’t much that can break.
The machine’s key features include the folding tables, which helps you maintain accurate settings even after switching between jointing and planing. It also has two feed rates (9 & 11m/s) for planing, which help with cut quality on difficult boards.
Many replacement parts are still available, because they are interchangeable with the DeWalt DW1150 and ELU EPT 1151 and 1153.
There was also a jointer only version of this machine, called the DW55. It is almost exactly the same except for missing the planer functionality.
Replacement Blades: You can find replacement blades at Amazon UK (sold by Axminster), Amazon Germany, or on eBay.
Reliable cast-iron machine. Often cheaper than similar machines, but just as good. Good value for money.

The DW55 is nearly the same as the DW50, but misses the planer functionality. Since it takes up the same amount of space, the jointer planer version is by far the better choice, but probably more expensive.
The DW1150 is the successor of the DW50, with as main upgrade a better fence.

I refurbished a DeWalt DW50 recently where the drive belt for the thickness feed had broken. I found a replacement here:

It’s actually for the ELU EPT 1153, but that machine is almost exactly the same as the DW50 and DW1150. This shop also offers the belt for the cutterhead.

Hello.
Could anybody explain how I can change the speed on DW50?
I see the belt and the pulley but if I change the belt to samller one I think the belt is too big.
Actually the main difference between DW50 and Dw1150 was the attachment for a mortiser on the second. The earlier DW 1150 sport the same fence of DW50.
