The Rikon 25-201H is a 12-inch jointer planer with a helical head. It is the largest jointer planer offered by Rikon. It is very similar to some other China-made 12-inch jointer planers, like the Jet JJP-12.
The helical head cutter has 4 rows with in total 56 cutters. Each carbide insert has four sharp sides, meaning you can rotate them four times before you need to replace them. This gives them a much longer life than regular planer blades.
There is also a version with standard blades, called just 25-210 (without the H), but it seems to be much less widely available.
Unlike Rikon’s 10-inch jointer planer, which can be moved around quite easily, the 25-210H is a heavy machine. This is great for stability when jointing or planing, but if you need to move it, you’ll need a caster base or the mobility kit that Rikon sells itself (see here on Amazon).
The fence is quite long with 1092mm and is secured in two places to help minimize flex. This can be seen on one of the images listed above.
One thing that sets the Rikon apart from similar machines like the Jet JJP-12 (which internally is 99% the same machine) is the extra outfeed roller table for the planer table. It helps support the workpiece as it comes out of the machine, reducing snipe.
Replacement Carbide Inserts: You can find new carbide inserts at a few places, including Amazon. They are sold in packs of 10, so replacing all cutters at once is actually quite expensive.
Quite affordable for a machine of this size and with a helical head. Interesting budget option for smaller product shops.

What do you think about the price of this Rikon? It is quite a bit cheaper than the JET JJP-12 with helical head, even though it is almost the same machine.
How is that possible? Are you just paying for Jet’s brand? Or is this Rikon built cheaper?
