The Holzmann HOB260ABS is the lowest priced jointer planer combo made by Holzmann. It has a unique integrated dust collector not often seen on these machines. Holzmann will be upgrading this model some time in 2021 with better feed rollers and an integrated wheel kit.
Given the low price, some sacrifices have been made in terms of build quality. For example, the tables are made of a cast alloy, rather than the heavier cast iron ones found on more expensive machines.
However, you still get a heavier and more substantial machine than most lightweight machines sold at this price range, like the Metabo HC 260.
The HOB260ABS only has two standard, resharpenable HSS-Steel blades. This is not a problem, but some alternatives, like Holzmann’s own HOB260ECO have three blades, which generally leads to better finishes.
The machine also has a special lever for disengaging the infeed rollers.
One unique thing about the HOB260ABS is that it has an built-in dust collector, which is quite an innovative feature. Jointer planers generate many chips and shavings and can’t really be used without proper dust extraction. The chips are collected in a bag attached to the side of the machine.
By integrating this feature in the machine itself, you can save quite a bit of space, which is great especially for small workshops.
There is news of an upgraded version being released in the summer of 2021, with the feed roller being swapped from a metal, serrated roller to rubber one. The new feed roller will leave less marks on the wood resulting in less need for a final sand.
The new model will also have a built in moving device with a lifting function to help move the machine around the workshop.
One of the most affordable stationary jointer planers. Can be a bit hit and miss in terms of quality control.
