The Powermatic PM3000B is the largest and most powerful cabinet saw made by Powermatic. It is similar in many ways to the PM2000B, but larger and much more powerful. However, it lacks a few features and upgrades from the PM2000B.
With its 14-inch blade and 7.5HP 3-phase motor, the PM3000B is a real workhorse meant for use in production shops with high demands. This amount of power is overkill for any average user, who would be better off with the PM2000b.
The PM3000B lacks the integrated wheels and digital readout of the PM2000B. It also cannot be extended with a router lift or workbench. However, any professionals in need of this type of machine are likely to have separate machines for those tasks anyway, so it should not be a serious issue.
The PM3000B can also be upgraded with a sliding table attachment. Like Powermatic’s other cabinet saws, the riving knife can be replaced quickly without any tools, and the same goes for the blade guard. The machine also comes with a second, low-profile riving knife that can be used for through cuts like dados and grooves.
