Machine overview

When you sign up, you can:

By

The Record Power BS250 is a 10 inch bandsaw, and the cheapest of the two 10-inch bandsaws made by Record Power. It is very similar and size and looks to the Sabre 250, but cheaper, lower build quality, and has less features.

It is still quite a solid bandsaw that is a clear step above plastic entry-level models.

Fence

The fence of the BS250 is probably its biggest weakness, as it simply doesn’t look very tight and can’t be finely adjusted. The Sabre 250 on the other hand has a sturdy fence that can be finely adjusted and put in a high and low position. Some people upgrade the BS250 fence to an aftermarket one, as can be seen in this video.

Guides

The guides are simple bearings that need to be adjusted with a hex key. In contrast, on the Sabre 250, you can adjust the guides without any tools and position them by hand thanks to integrated springs. Still, once you set them up properly they should function properly on the BS250 as well.

North American Equivalent

This exact bandsaw is also sold in North America under the Rikon brand. The Rikon 10-305 is 100% the same as the BS250, except for the paint.

Machine Atlas Verdict

Decent bandsaw for people on a limited budget. If you have the money to spend, the upgrade to the Sabre 250 is well worth it.
