The SCM Minimax FS 30g (genius) is the entry level machine in SCM’s jointer planer combo series. It is the smaller, more affordable brother of the Minimax FS 30 Classic. It is also sold under the Holzkraft brand in Germany and Austria.
The FS 30 Genius is aimed mainly at hobbyists. Compared to its larger brother, the FS 30 Classic, it lacks in power and size, which makes it unsuitable for professional use.
The cutterblock can be upgraded to the Tersa system, which allows you to change and set new knives very quickly. Alternatively you can opt for SCM’s Xylent spiral cutterblock. The advantages of spiral cutters are the cheaper replacement if you damage one blade, lower sound levels, and longer life due to their four sharp sides.
The SCM Minimax FS 30 Genius can also be fitted with a mortising chuck and a mortising table.
