The SCM Minimax ST 4e (elite) is the third of SCM’s three Saw / Shaper combination machines. It is essentially the same machine as the Minimax SC 4 Elite panel saw, but with a shaper / spindle moulder added. It is a step up from the cheaper and slightly smaller Minimax SC 3 Classic.
The main differences with the cheaper models are found in the longer sliding table, bigger capacity on the spindle moulder, and the general attention to detail and potential upgrades.
The sliding table can be extended up to 3200mm, and the spindle moulder can support slightly bigger tooling than the SC 3 Classic. The ST 4 Elite also has more sophisticated handwheels that are integrated and have folding handles. The control switch panel is also more detailed.
Besides upgrades like a heavier motor and longer sliding table, there are also many accessories available. These include a tenoning table and hood for the spindle moulder, digital readouts for the crosscut fence, a better blade guard and potential for adding dado blades.
