Machine overview

When you sign up, you can:

By

The Elektra Beckum PKF 255 V8 panel saw is the largest and most advanced of the PK table and panel saw series. At first glance it may seem similar to the PK 300, but the PKF 255 V8 has a more sophisticated and larger sliding table system.

This machine was also marketed under the term ‘ProfiLine‘, indicating that this was a serious machine not just intended for woodworking enthusiasts, but professionals as well.

Two Versions

There exist two versions: a green or blue Elektra Beckum version and the blue Metabo-branded one (2006 – onwards). This machine is more based (perhaps even identical) on the Metabo TKU 1693 than the old Elektra Beckum PK series. There may be small differences though.

It comes with several useful features, like a large and well-supported sliding table and a scoring blade, making it suitable for cutting sheet goods.

Replacement Saw Blades: The PKF 255 uses blades of 250mm with a 30mm arbor. Luckily, blades this size are still very common today, so you have many options to choose from.

For example, you can find blades that will fit the PKF 255 with good reviews on Amazon UK or Amazon Germany.

  1. Hello,

I hope you are safe and healthy at this time.
If you are able can you please offer some assistance.
I’ve been using my Elektra Beckum PKF 255 for many years with no issues until recently. When sliding the traveling sizing table the black plastic angle shaped bearings track came out of its place. I cannot seem to get it back in. Can you please offer some guidance on how I might fix this problem? Do I need to remove the sliding table ? Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

    • Hi Ken, I’m not sure exactly which part of the sliding table isn’t working? Could you maybe post a link to some images of the problem you’re experiencing?

  2. Hi Rob,

Thank you very much for responding to my question. I have a few photos and of course a few questions. Here are the photos:

You’ll notice the black angle strip with bearings on it. It has come out of place when sliding the sled. You’ll also notice the thin metal strips that have also come out of place. I believe I’ll need to take the moving part of the sled off to repair this but I’m not sure.

I’m also not sure how to remove the top part of the sled. I want to be careful not to damage anything. When I look at the parts schematic in the guide it clearly shows all of the parts in the exploded view but it does not show how to disassemble the sled. I’m quite aware my explanation and photos might not be explanatory but I’m willing to do a facetime if you think necessary.

Also, I am so grateful for your website and most of all you reaching out to my post. Thank you and I hope to hear from you,
    Ken

    • Hi Ken, just wondering if you got fixed up with spare parts for the saw bench? I’ve got same problems with mine as you had – I need new bearings for sliding table

    • Hi Ken,

First of all, I added the images you sent to your comment, I hope you don’t mind that (let me know if you do). I’m afraid I won’t really be able to help you, because I don’t have experience with this saw myself, and I can’t see an immediate solution from the images.

But maybe other readers who see your images can offer some feedback.

The best advice I can give is to take a lot of pictures (so you know how it goes back together) and simply start unscrewing/disassembling things. Then you might bump into new parts that can be disassembled, and ultimately you’ll be able to remove the entire sled. As long as you take enough images/notes, you’ll be able to put it back together.

      Best, Rob

  3. Hi I have 2 of these at my workshop. Got one when they first come out and bought second one at auction site with extras as it was a ex display unit.

I too have the same problem with the sliding part. Those bearings should really be upgraded but I havnt found any thing that can be done to it.
Unfortunately they can only be replaced.

I did take of the sliding part of to replace the bearing but it’s been a while now.

It worked but again its come out and is revealing. They should really be not visible when sliding the table back and forth. Another problem I have is the actual sliding table isnt aligned to the bed of the machine and the wheels at the bottom of the sliding carriage doesn not touch the bar until you push half way then the wheel makes contact.

Finding it very frustrating to get it right.

I’m sure I’m missing something or an adjustment which I havnt quite figured out yet

Oh and my scoring blade motor doesnt work. When I press the button to turn the scoring blade on there is a slight movement but nothing happens.
They are good machines but only disadvantage is those roller bearings. If they can be upgraded to ball bearings then it would be great.
Hence why I have a backup machine but I will be replacing those roller bearings soon. Luckily I can get spare parts for the machine and the roller bearing and not expensive at all

    • Hi, I have seen your comments on the machine atlas.com site and wonder if you can help me locate some parts for Metabo PKF255V8 with sliding table. I have bought it second hand from an auction and found that the bearings in the sliding table need fully replacing. I have contacted all the major dealers in the UK but they tell me spare parts are discontinued. I wonder if you have any contacts for spare parts? I have seen your conversation thread with Ken in the USA from about 4 years ago. Hoping you can help .

  5. Hi All, I’m trying to source those angle bracket bearings for this machine. Does anyone know what the part number is for it? Or even what the actual name is? I’ve been told by several distributors in my area that the machine is out dated and spare parts are not available.

  7. Hi all, I’ve sharpened the scoring blade on my PFK 255 and not sure if I’m missing something. Is there a small spring that goes on the spindle first, which if I’m thinking right, would allow the blade to move left and right to line up with the saw blade

    • hi
i bought this machine 2nd hand a while back
parts are discontinued and i will have to have it machined. i am looking for pics of the parts of the scoring blade section. on the spindle what you are missing are the six spring cup washers

  8. Hi Rob,

Thank you for responding. That is what I will have to do.
When I finally get it apart and realize I’ll need replacement parts would you happen to know the best place to order from ? I’m located in the US. Thanks again Rob and be safe.
