The Rikon 10-306 Bandsaw is a 10″ benchtop bandsaw aimed at hobbyist with higher quality demands. It is an upgraded version of the Rikon 10-305, with better build quality and several better features.
Improvements over the 10-305
Better guides
The 10-306 is about 50% more expensive than the 10-305, but it has several improvements to warrant the extra price. It has better guides, with plastic knobs to make them much easier to adjust. On the old 305 you have to use an allen key to adjust the guides.
Quick release tension lever
Another great upgrade is the quick release tension lever, making it much easier to switch blades and release tension when you’re done working on the machine. This can prolong the lifespan of your blades.
Two speeds and more powerful motor
It also has two speeds, while the old 305 only had one speed. This gives it a bit more torque, which is quite beneficial when cutting hardwoods on such a small machine. And it helps with cutting metals. It also has a 1/2 HP motor, compared to the 1/3 HP motor on the 305.
It also has heavier aluminium wheels and a sturdier fence that can be put in both a high and a low position.

Slightly upgraded version: Rikon 10-3061
Rikon have recently also released a slightly updated version of the 10-306, called the 10-3061 (great name, not confusing at all!). It is essentially the same machine, but with a better dust port, sturdier door hinges, and a slightly redesigned fence and frame.
Rikon also sells an optional metal stand to go with the saw, which you can find here on Amazon.
European Equivalent
Rikon is only sold in North America, but there is also a European equivalent made by Record Power. The Record Power Sabre 250 is 99% the same machine as the Rikon 10-306. Some users of the Sabre 250 have found parts with the Rikon logo on it in their machines.
5 year Warranty
Another interesting thing is that Rikon gives a 5 year warranty on their bandsaws, which is quite rare for products in this price range. It really shows they stand behind the ‘premium’ label they give the 10-306 bandsaw.
