The Metabo TK 1688 is a medium-sized table saw from the respected Magnum series. It is the updated version of the TK 1685 and generally considered the better machine of the two. Some parts are the same for both machines, but not all. For example, the mitre slots are different. It was succeeded by the TK 1693.
Besides a general reputation for good quality, this machine also has many optional features, like sanding discs, a sliding table, mortising table, and a groove cutter block.
The groove cutter head is similar to that of a spindle moulder/shaper, but mounted vertically instead of horizontally. This means it is positioned like a saw blade, and mainly used for grooves, dados, and length-wise profiles.
The sliding table comes in two sizes: 1580 and 1170mm. There are also several support legs available. The table side extension can be used once (rip capacity 730mm) or twice (rip capacity 1230mm).
Replacement Saw Blades: The TK 1688 accepts up to 315 mm diameter blades and has a 30 mm arbor. You can browse some blades that will fit the TK 1688 and have good reviews on Amazon Germany or Amazon UK.
Quality machine from the Magnum series. Often a bit overpriced on the second-hand market.
